PUBLISHED WEDDING and it Wasn't Me....

Memories Made…. When I stop to think about the responsibilities of being a Wedding Photographer, I will ask myself what am I doing this for? The anxiety and pressure of a Wedding Day is unparalleled to many day to day experiences and it is your experience and adrenaline that creates the memories for a lifetime.

I will be very transparent with this mental process in an upcoming BLOG, but for now, it will focus on the topic Memories Made. Every shoot, regardless of a Graduation, Passport, Family Photo Session, Christmas Session is counting on your expertise to capture the moment. I am pleased to share the article below of a couple CMP photographed and published by A THIRD PARTY! The pictures worked because Dawn and James were extremely cooperative with the the photographic suggestions and extremely energetic to conduct a variety of poses for a thorough experience of their wedding day. The picture to the right of the Bride and Groom says it all!!! Look at her twinkle and smile. I love the way he is embracing her and the magical "unspoken" moment says "I Love You".

The location of Dawn and Jame’s wedding took place at the Milton Banquet and Conference Centre in Milton. Thirty six acres of groomed grounds with endless photo opportunities. Check out their facility here (www.miltonbanquets.com) .

My Pic Has Been Published! Yay...What a Feeling…..

Magazine It is a pretty good feeling to be published as a photographer. A few things happen emotionally when you hear the news. The first reaction is “WOW” I have published! There is a sense of pride in acknowledging a magazine has selected your visual art to be portrayed amongst the masses in either print or digital form. Secondly is the immediate rush to see what picture or pictures have been selected. It’s interesting to compare your interpretation of the photos that you think will be submitted to the editors choice. In my experience, the pictures are a pretty close reflection to what I thought. But this doesn’t happen all the time. Sometimes I have been shocked at the selected choice for a magazine. Obviously, the Editor of a magazine will have a vision of the theme of their magazine for that particular publication. So unless you are on the same page, it would be hard to interpret the end res

ult. Thirdly is the hmmm,...”how did they edit that”? Sometimes the editing job is so amazing with the 3 dimensional lettering and vibrant backgrounds. For the most part, there are touch up programs out there to soften skin, whiten teeth and eyes and reshape parts of the human body. For the most part that is accessible for all but the fine tuning is sometimes in another league. After all , as a photographer, nailing the image with the proper lighting is one thing but the art of artistic editing is another. Editors these days have an extensive background with graphic design and the programs from just 5 years ago are quite antiquated in comparison to today's technology. Manipulation of the backgrounds, foreground, lighting and lettering surrounding the image(s) can be breathtaking. So both professions are capable of producing their masterpiece on the image that is set before them. One in real life and the other in digital format. In conclusion, being Published is quite a compliment and really achievable. Does it qualify one as a bonafide photographer? Well, I will let every photographer answer that question for themselves. As for myself, flattering but not at all necessary to validate my talents. When I create an image, I feel truly gratified the end result is very close to the vision that I have created.

The Diversity Bench, coming to a Halton Catholic School?

The answer is probably no but what a great concept for every School in Ontario. A bench outside the school with the lovely colours of the Rainbow.

For the Primary Grades,

What a great way to learn the colours of the rainbow. Match leaves, pebbles to the various colours on this colourful bench.

For the Junior Grades,

There is Math and Science and so much more!

Creating formulas enhance the vibrance of each colour. Proportion yellow and blue and get the perfect green,

For the Intermediate Years,

Find the complementary for each colour of the rainbow.

Further explore and understand that colours can be associated with mood. If I am feeling blue, what shall I do? I am seeing red, what is really going on in my head. Could it be the Trustees voted again?

For the Senior Years,

Colours represent diversity. A great asset to have before college or university.

For the Trustees of the Board,

What a great platform for a photo. Sitting on the bench with a smile

This symbolizes an understanding and sometimes changes take a while.

Perhaps there is more meaning with the “Diversity Bench” that can be taught. Let’s not be judgemental and give it more thought. Kudos to the Boards who are representing the “full lot!”
